Aro News editor loses father

Mazi Maxwell Okpechi Okoro, father of the Managing Editor of Aro News, Ugo Okoro, passed onto glory on the 21st of November, 2016 in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. He was aged 79. A native of Okoro-Okpong compound, Atani, Archukwu, De Okoro as he was fondly called, was born on the 27th of July, 1937. He was educated at St Anthony’s Catholic School, Mbawsi; Methodist Central School, Bean, Ogoni Rivers State; Methodist Central School, Nneato; County High School, Western Ahoada and St Pius Secondary School, Bodocity, Rivers State.

He worked as a clerical officer with African Insurance Company  Ltd; District Manager (East), Express Insurance Ltd, 1970-1985; Area Manager, (East and Benue State), Olympia Insurance Co. Ltd and Chairman/CEO, Central Motors Ltd.

He is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management; INSED Management Consultancy Services; Coine International Associate and Finance and Supervisory Management.

De Okoro was Treasurer General, PTA, Army Day Secondary School, Bori Camp, Port-Harcourt; Secretary, Atani Welfare Union and Arochukwu Social Club of Nigeria (ASCON), Port-Harcourt branch; Financial Secretary, Nzuko Aro, Port- Harcourt branch; National President, Ikemba Age Grade, Atani, Arochukwu; National Assistant Secretary General, Ikenga Social Club of Nigeria; Secretary, Arochukwu ward III, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a member of St Mathew’s Anglican Church, Arochukwu.

He is married to May and blessed with seven children and grandchildren.
