The remains of Elder Mrs. Maria Achinivu (Mama Maria) was committed to mother earth on Saturday, the 9th of December, 2017 at her family compound in Amannagwu village, Arochukwu. Mama Maria as she was fondly called passed on the 30th of August, 2017 at the age of 92.
Born on the 25th August, 1925 in Arochukwu, Elder Maria attended Mary Slessor; the Scottish Mission School both in Arochukwu, and the Women’s Training College, Old Umuahia. She also attended management courses in Ghana.
A professional teacher, Nneoma taught in various institutions which include the Mary Slessor Primary School; Aggrey Primary School; St Michaels Primary School, Aba; Constitution Crescent Primary School also in Aba; Legion Primary School; Mamprobi Primary School and Korle Goro Primary School all in Ghana as well as several other schools in Nigeria. She was equally the Executive Director of Premier Montessori International School, Aba.
Ezinne was a ruling Elder of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria and President of its Women’s Guild as well as the Christian Council of Nigeria.
On the home front, she was the President General of Nzuko Arochukwu Women’s wing from 1981-1992 and introduced the Women’s Mass Rally in 1990.
She is survived by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
