First Nigerian Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and pioneer Rector of the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), clocked 86 in February. A native of Isimkpu village, Ugwu Aro was educated at Methodist College, Uzuakoli; University College, Ibadan and the University of London, Queen Mary’s College. He is also the first Nigerian Ph.D holder in Electrical/Electronics. He lectured at the Nigeria College of Arts and Science, Zaria; foundation staff member, ABU; Chairman, PRODA; Dean, UNN; Executive Director, Centre for Adaptation of Technology, Awka; founder, African Institute of Technical Training and Research for OAU and UN and at present, Professor of Physics and Mathematics, Godfrey Okoye University. He is married and blessed with children and grand children.
