On the 14th of July, 2018, it was the turn of Lagos branch to host the Women’s Wing of the Umbrella body – Nzuko Aro.

On Friday, 13th of July, all branch Presidents, and Secretaries of Nzuko Aro Women’s wing arrived Lagos, amidst a heavy down pour, that gridlocked most Lagos routes.

The vibrant central executives, with their Patrons, who were present, did not waste time, as they swung into action, holding an all-night exco meeting, in preparation for the main day.
Saturday, 14th was the crux for the assemblage. The roll call recorded about 16 branches, with apologies from some branches, which could not make it because some internal issues.

The host branch, Lagos, did not leave any stone unturned to make sure it was a successful outing. Their members came out en masse, beautifully dressed. The Nzuko Aro men in Lagos also came out in support of their wives.

Some of the distinguished men in Lagos that graced the occasion included: Mazi Chima Chijioke ( Patron), Mazi Dan Kanu (Patron), Mazi Udo Chijioke (Patron), Mazi J K Onwuchekwa, Mazi Naira Okorafor (President, AROSON), Mazi Adindu Elekwa (Financial Secretary-General, Nzuko Aro), Mazi Patrick Asonye (National Secretary, AROSON), Mazi Ejike Onwuchekwa (President, Lagos branch) and Mazi Okereke Okpara (Patron).

The deliberations took off with the procession of the Central executives. Lagos presented a beautiful , and rhythmic welcome song, which was received with a great applause.

The main activity for the day was the PG’s address, and deliberations on issues bordering on 2018 Mass Rally. The men also addressed the house on issues bordering on Aro security and politics. Mazi D O Kanu and Mazi Udo Chijioke called the attention of women on the reckless life style Aro young boys and girls at home are indulging in. They regretted that vices like drug abuse, kidnapping etc are gradually gaining ground in Aro. In the words of Mazi Udo Chijioke, “no child is useless, but becomes useless when they are marginalised, or neglected.”

They, therefore, called on the women to advise their children, wards and relations. As peacemaker, they urged the women to continue to preach, and as well pray for peace in Aro.

On the on going NDDC road projects in Aro, they encouraged the women to appreciate the efforts of Dr Alex Otti, and Senator Mao Ohuabunwa. They also encouraged the women to register and obtain their voters’ cards, to be eligible to cast their ballot for a leader of the choice come 2019.
The President General Women’s Wing, Lady Bright Elekwa, in appreciating and responding to the men who came to identify with the women, and on their call to support demonstrable political leaders, said that Aro politics should be everyone’s concern, therefore, should be discussed everywhere there is an assemblage of Umu Aro.

She also lamented the humiliation Umu Aro in the Civil Service are subjected to in Abia State; and equivocally called on all well-meaning Aros to be part of this project.

Other issues discussed were some of the women’s project and the 2018 Mass Rally.
The meeting came to an end with merriment, dance, dance and dance.
