Sam Ohuabunwa elected President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.

A member of the Board of Directors of Aro News Publications Ltd, Mazi Sam Iheanyichukwu Ohuabunwa (OFR) was on Friday, the 2nd of November, 2018 elected President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) at the 91st Annual Conference of the association tagged ‘Oluyole 2018’.

Ibadan the Oyo State capital and its environs played host to pharmacists from all over Nigeria who thronged the Premier Hotel venue of the conference not only to brainstorm on the way forward for the association, but also elect officers that will pilot its affairs for the next twelve months.

At the election proper, Mazi Sam polled a total of 1065 votes to defeat the following contestants, Anthony Bola Oyawole, 498; Lolu Ojo, 386 and Dr. Dan Orunwense, 271 votes.

Mazi Ohuabunwa had earlier emerged the winner of an online poll conducted by pharmanewsonline.com weeks before the election. He polled 1108 votes, 41.2% of the total votes cast; way ahead of Lolu Ojo with 882 votes representing 32.8%, Anthony Bola Oyawole, 474 votes representing 17.64, while Dr. Dan Orunwense polled 223 votes, 8.30%.

A 1976 graduate of pharmacy from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ohuabunwa worked as a Pupil Pharmacist at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Enugu, Superintendent Pharmacist at the General Hospital, Yelwa, Kebbi State before joining the services of Pfizer Products Ltd where he had an illustrious career rising from the position of Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives in 1978 to Chairman/Managing Director in 1993.

Mazi Sam is a Fellow and member of many professional, cultural and social organizations.

He is married to Stella and blessed with children and grandchildren.
