On behalf of Umu Aro and Nzuko Arochukwu World Wide (NAWW) Men and Women, it is my honour to convey to this distinguished gathering of Umu Aro the felicitations of His Majesty, Eze Arochukwu Kingdom, Dr. Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro, CFR, Eze Ogos and Ezes of all Arochukwu Communities, too numerous to mention.
It is a great delight that we are converged in Abakaliki, the beautiful capital city of Ebonyi State after a nine-year interregnum of holding the All Aro National Conference (AANC). The 5th AANC comes nine years after the 4th Conference, to rekindle the bond among Umu Aros worldwide. It would be recalled that the last AANC was held on 13th May, 2011, in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. Therefore, on behalf of the regal leaderships of all Arochukwus, NAWW Men and Women, I convey profound gratitude for this unique revitalisation and rejuvenation of the umbilical cord of all Aros in Nigeria and in the Diaspora.
The lead topic of the 5th National Conference: “The Aro and the Development of South Eastern Nigeria: Legacies, Pains and Prospects” elucidates the boundless Arochukwu Kingdom, enunciating its strength in diplomacy, peace and conflict resolution, trade, agriculture, adjudication, political, economic and cultural forte. The convergence of Umu Aro indicates the immense importance and value placed on the rich culture and tradition of our Kingdom and shows the desire to preserve them for generations to come. Our legacies must remain our treasure which the elders must handover to the next generation of leaders for conservation.
On behalf of all Umu Aro, I most respectfully express our gratitude to the National Executive Committee of the AANC under the eminent leadership of Professor Emeritus, Mazi Okoro Ijoma, Ugwu Aro, Chairman Body of Patrons of NAWW and his team of equals for putting together a convivial and congenial valedictory Conference after close to two decades at the helm of affairs of AANC. Your love for Arochukwu found expression in your fervent service to the Kingdom, even up to this day.
I welcome on-board the assemblage of a new ebullient AANC leadership under the headship of Mazi (Pharm)Sam Ohuabunwa; UgwuAro, Ugbo Oma, former President General of NAWW, National President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), the first convener of the AANC and his team, endowed with prodigious intellect. Former Presidents General of Nzuko Arochukwu are greatly eulogised for nourishing the AANC to date. I express our deep gratitude to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 5th AANC for a good job in ensuring the comfort of conferees. The hosting of the AANC in Abakaliki was in fulfilment of consensus reached at the Owerri Conference, an insignia of honour.
On behalf of His Majesty, Dr. Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro, CFR, and executive members of NAWW, Men and Women, I have the privilege to enjoin all Aros to ensure that peace and unity exist amongst us and our neighbours. This get-together is unique as it offers the opportunity to bequeath the mantle of leadership to a new National Executive of AANC. I also wish to express His Majesty’s wishes of best outcomes through conflate of ideas that will engender peace and progress in the Kingdom world over.
May the good Lord grant all of us journey mercies to our various destinations, in Jesus name, AMEN.
