Mazi Azubike Okoro
President, aronewsonline.com

Mazi Azubike Okoro holds first and second degrees in Sociology/Social Anthropology of the
Universities of Nigeria, Nsukka and Lagos, respectively. He is a member of the Chartered Institute
of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
Mazi Okoro is equally affiliated to the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA), Canada.

He worked briefly with the Political Bureau; a defunct federal government agency charged with
political transition processes and related issues and later practiced journalism at the Nigerian
Economist Magazine from 1987-1992. Subsequently, he took up employment with another federal
government organization, a banking regulatory/supervisory agency where he currently works. His
interest in journalism as a hobby led to his founding of the Aro News Newspaper in 1997 as a non-
profit making venture. The medium is a community based quarterly devoted primarily to topical
issues on culture, history and development of the Arochukwu society of south eastern Nigeria. As
founder and pioneer Publisher/Editor-In-Chief, he has successfully pursued the publishing enterprise
in the past one decade.

Mazi Okoro who has over the years garnered varied experiences in social welfare, social
development, administration, journalism and human resources management has published several
works both in his field of study and on Aro history and civilization. Aside publishing, his varied
community services include chairmanship of Amuvi Welfare Union, Abuja (1996-1998) and
membership of several committees of Nzuko Arochukwu. He has visited major cities in countries
like United Kingdom, USA and Canada and has equally been exposed to various courses, including
programs organized by the World Bank, Washington DC (Overview of Financial Sector Issues &
Analysis, Capacity Building & Utilization), Royal Institute of Public Administration (RIPA, London –
Change & HR Mgt., Mgt. of Performance & Reward), etc. Some of his major literary works include
research on “Industrialization and Indigenous Manpower Dev”, “Job Satisfaction among Factory
Workers”, “Empirical Study Of The Behavioral Pattern Of Insured Bank Staff To Job
Dissatisfaction”, “Survey of Performance Management Policies & Practices of Nigerian Banks –
Institutional Perspective”, Perspectives in Aro History & Civilization – Vols. 1 & 11 and various
Newspaper articles and Seminar papers.

Having identified the non-existent of an Arochukwu community-wide website in the present
information-driven environment as an inexcusable neglect, he has set for his team the target of
redressing the ugly situation in partnership with sponsors and associates/partners. The sole
objective of the group is to launch Aro into the cyber world thereby re-position it to tap
meaningfully from the enormous potentials it portends. Mazi Azubike Okoro is happily married with
children.
