The event which will feature several activities including cultural dances and displays, march-past by branches of the A.W.U. will have as its major highlights as Launch of One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000.00) Development Fund for recommencement of work on the Amuvi Hall Project and the reticulation of water from the NDDC Water Reservoir to all parts of Amuvi; the maiden conferment of Amuvi Recognition Award on some deserving sons and daughters who have distinguished themselves in their services to Amuvi and the general public.

According to the Secretary General, Mazi Ikechukwu Okafor, a high quality event brochure that will serve as a memento is being put together. This brochure will contain brief bio data of all award recipients and historical data on Amuvi and Arochukwu. It will be a “must have” for every home. The secretary therefore, we encourages individuals, A.W.U. branches, corporate organizations, all and sundry to seize this unique opportunity to place advertisement, goodwill and congratulatory messages in the event brochure. In order to galvanize support for the Amuvi Day 2015 as well as other developmental projects, the president-general, AWU, Mazi Nd Umeh visited the Abuja branch for two days in the month of May during which he encouraged the members to show commitment towards ensuring that Amuvi does not fail to have all basic infrastructures to support its growth. Mazi Umeh’s visit was timed to coincide with the monthly meeting of Amuvi Welfare Union, Abuja, so he was hosted a day before at the residence of Engr Alex Ezumah, a past president general.

The meeting which lasted until midnight provided good opportunity to review the long list of projects the EXCO is interested in embarking upon and decision was taken on how they items could be strategically streamlined for effective realization. The evening also provided ample opportunity for members to relax as the host feasted every person with good foods and drinks. At the meeting proper the next day the president general was formally received by both men and women wings and the projects were thoroughly discussed. Following his request, the Abuja Branch undertook to pursue and deliver one of the key projects on behalf of the community. Aside from individuals that indicated interest to assist the community, the EXCO were advised to be more entrepreneurial and seek ways of raising funds for projects which the community will pay back from investment income. It was also generally agreed that for the EXCO to realistically pursue some of the projects, its intention of stepping aside after one tenure should be shelved as people shall not be committed to funding projects when the initiators are not ready to see to their realization. The meeting was rounded-off with plenty eating and drinking and the president general departed the following morning.
