Umuahia branch hosts Nzuko Aro CEC

The Central Executive Council meeting of Nzuko Arochukwu took place on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Margaret School auditorium, Azikiwe Road, Umuahia, hosted by Umuahia branch.

Expectedly, executives from many branches of Nzuko Aro were present at the meeting which started around 2pm. Opening remarks were given by the President General and Chairman of Umuahia branch with the PG moderating.

The issue of the women’s wing was raised with the leadership of the union mandating both parties to avail themselves of the opportunity presented by the peace committee set up by the union. Failure to honour the committee’s invitation by either party will be met by sanctions. Recall that a faction of the women had rejected the composition of the committee alleging likely bias by some members.

The PG cup is to take a new order this year. The PG called on branches to make financial contributions towards hosting a successful completion this year. The PG also informed the gathering that N15million has so far been spent on the civic centre project. The crisis tearing the Umuahia women’s wing came to the front burner with the PG mandating the chairman of Umuahia branch men’s meeting to resolve the issues.

The Aro Kingdom national honours and award is to take place this December. Branches were asked to nominate qualified persons. The tenure of the present executive will soon expire with the PG calling on interested Umu Aro to indicate interest in various offices. As if waiting for the PG’s charge, Ernie Onwumere, Emmanuel Kanu (Jideofor), Steve Amaramiro and others indicated interest to run for the office of president general.
