The Government of Abia State has announced the appointment of Prof (Mrs.) Theresa Nnennaya Kanno (JP) as the Provost of the Abia State College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu. She takes over from Dr. C.N. Nwamuo. Until her appointment, Adaukwu Aro was at the Abia State University, Uturu.
The first child of Aro foremost teacher, late Associate Prof Pius and Mdam Nnennaya Igboko of Amuvi Village, Nnennaya was educated at Aggrey Primary School, Ibom; Queens School, Enugu; University of Nigeria, Nsukka; State University of New York, Bufallo and earned a PhD in Curriculum Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Adaukwu had at one time or the other lectured at the Women’s Arabic Teachers Training College, Gusau; Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri; Imo State University and the Abia State University, Uturu. She was coordinator, Sandwich Programme; Head, Department of Vocational Education; Dean, Faculty of Education and Director, Sandwich Programme, Abia State University, Uturu. As Dean of Faculty of Education, it is to her credit that full accreditation was obtained for the department. She also packaged the curriculum for the establishment of the affiliate campus degree programme in ASCETA.
Prof Kanno is a Fellow of Curriculum Organisation of Nigeria; member Council for Intellectual Co-operation of Nigeria; Nzuko Aro Women’s wing and many other professional bodies. She is married to Engr. Charles Kanno and they are blessed with children.
