Abia North: PDP strategises to return MAO to Senate

Following the Appeal Court verdict of December 3, which nullified his election as Senator of the Federal Republic, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to swing ultimate victory for its candidate, MAO Ohuadunwa, in the coming poll.

The Appeal Court sitting in Owerri, Imo State, while invalidating MAO’s election victory, also ordered a re-run within 90 days. The ruling therefore created a void in the Senate, without any representation from Abia North.

Political pundits believe that MAO has as his main challenger, the former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA). In fact, it was Kalu and Andrew Uchendu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that kicked against the verdict of the Election Petitions Tribunal, which awarded MAO victory in the first instance.

But Aro News learnt that the PDP is certain that its candidate will triumph, hence its hierarchs are already planning to return to the drawing board, to re-strategise for his victory.

The PDP believes that MAO is a ‘sellable candidate any day’, given his pedigree as a former member of the House of Representatives.
