Construction work has once again picked up on the Odoro-Ikpe- Ikpe-Ikot- Nkon-Obotme-Arochukwu road otherwise known as Uzo Nkana.

Aro News correspondent observed that the construction firm, Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited, is fully back to site working around Ugwu Nma Bassey as well as on the 102 meters bridge.

According to the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Akparawa Inyang Eyen, the 14.7 kilometer road will be among the projects that will be commissioned by Governor Udom Emmanuel come May 2018, as part of activities marking his third year in office as governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Mr. Inyang stated that the road project being executed through the Alternative Project Funding Approach (APFA), has reached 50% completion, adding that the governor was eager to open up rural communities in the state. He stated further that the road project was initially designed to terminate at the border point between Akwa Ibom and Abia State, which is 14.1 kilometers, but appeals had been made to the governor to extend the road beyond the border by 600 meters in other to accommodate a dilapidated bridge linking Akwa Ibom with Abia to ease interstate movements and interactions.

Meanwhile, commuters who ply the road on a daily basis have expressed joy on the development. Speaking with Aro News, many of them thanked the government of Akwa Ibom state for the project. According to a transporter, travel time from Arochukwu to Aba has reduced drastically and the quality of work done on the road is very commendable.
