Author and political scientist turns 76 on the 2nd of October. A native of Ajalli, Orumba North LGA of Anambra State, Ugwu Aro attended Macgregor College, Afikpo, the University of Nigeria Nsukka and the University of California, Berkeley. He was Professor of Political Science and Head, Department of Political Science, UNN, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as well as Commissioner for Health, Anambra State; Chairman, National Electoral Commission (NEC) 1989-1993 where he distinguished himself by conducting the best election in Nigeria’s history.
Ugwu Aro is listed in Africa Who is Who; recipient of several honours and accolades, as well as author of several books. He is married to Stella and blessed with children and grandchildren.
