Legal practitioner and politician clocked 73 on the 26th of September. A native of Umuogbulafor, Uzoakwa, Ihiala LGA of Anambra State, Ugwu Aro was educated at Norte Dame High School, Abatete; University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University – OAU); the Nigeria Law School and City of London Polytechnic.
Akunnia joined the Nigeria Customs and Excise in 1964 and left in 1970; elected into the House of Representatives to represent Ihiala Federal Constituency; Chairman/CEO, Foukes Oil and Gas Services Ltd, and also into private legal practice. He is married to Theresa and blessed with children and grand children.
