11 Asaga undergrads benefit from Kanu Ivi scholarship scheme

No fewer than 11 young persons from Asaga Village have benefited from the 2020 Youth Empowerment/Scholarship Scheme (YESS) instituted by Chairman of Aro News Publications Ltd, Mazi Emma Kanu Ivi (Ogeneukwu). It is being administered through the Nzuko Asaga.

They emerged from four of the seven compounds that make up Asaga village.

Already, the students are pursuing different courses of study in various tertiary institutions in Nigeria. 

According to relevant memos obtained by Aro News, the cash awards are renewable annually based on proof of good academic performance, excellent behavior and loyalty to the peace and unity of Asaga village, Arochukwu. 

The memo stated thus: “Our aim is to empower our youths to be successful in future. Give them quality education and skills, and encourage them to be of good character and highly disciplined.”

The memo added: “Each beneficiary must be a fully registered member of Nzuko Asaga Youths and contributes at least N3,000 to Asaga Youths Association yearly, throughout the period they enjoy this scholarship scheme and any other empowerment programme under Nzuko Asaga.”

Below is the list of the beneficiaries:

1). Igwe Obinna Samuel (Ezi Umahi,  2nd Yr Med/Surg. Ebonyi State University – N150,000).

2). Okereke Onyekachi Treasure (Eziokoro, Engineering. ABSU. N120,000)

3). Okafor Chidiebere Mercy (Ezi Umahi, Hist/ Int Rel. Abia State University – N100,000).

4). Okorafor Akunna Juliet (Eziukwu, 2nd Yr. Bus Admin. ABSU – N100,000). 

5). Joseph Okereke (Eziokoro, Bsc. Econ. NOUN – N70,000).

6). Sunday Jessica Nwakaego (Eziokoro, NOUN. Bsc Bus Admin – N70,000).

7). Okoronkwo O Emmanuel ( Ndi Ivi, OND Fed Poly, Nekede – N50,000).

8). Okoronkwo Nnenna Precious (Eziukwu, OND Fed. Poly Nekede – N50,000).

9). Adama Mary Jane. (Eziukwu, OND. Banking / Finance. Fed Poly Nekede – N50,000).

10). Okereke Joy Oledi, (Ndi Ivi, NCE 3 Yrs English/Social Studies – N50,000).

11). Egede C Richard, (Eziokoro, NCE 3Yrs. Primary Edu/Social studies – N50,000).

 In a related development, the second batch of 20 Asaga Youths were on January 20, conveyed to the Industrial Training Fund Regional Centre Owerri for the Federal government sponsored Empowerment Programme. 

There, the candidates are taken through administrative procedures under the supervision of Secretary General, Barr Eustace Njaka. 

Asaga now has a total of 50 participants at the ITF Regional Training Programme in Owerri. 

“Our goal is to change the narratives by empowering all Asaga Youths to such extent that Arochukwu and indeed Nigeria will feel their positive impact,” said Njaka.
