Rep member, Uko Nkole, attracts Songhai Farms to Abia

Apparently to key into the agric policy of the Abia State government, a member of the House of Representatives Committee on Water Resources, who is also the member representing, Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon. Uko Nkole, has attracted the integrated farming giant – Songhai Farms – to Abia State.

On Thursday, March 12, 2020, the Songhai Farms team was on an inspection visit to the proposed farm site at Ozu Abam, in Arochukwu Local Government Area. 

Hon. Nkole, who conducted the team round the area mapped out for the pilot farm project, said he took the initiative of bringing the farming giants to Abia through the House Committee on Water Resources, because of the many benefits of a Songhai Farm project. The legislator, who is popularly called “Mr. Project”, said the integrated farm project has the capacity of employing over 100,000 Abians when in full operation.

The Federal government team was led by Engr. Gerald Osuagwu, a Director in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources while the Abia State government team was led by the project manager, Agricultural Development Programme(ADP), Chief Israel Amanze.. 

Both teams are the relevant stakeholders required for the establishment of Songhai Farms project. The project team said Abia was chosen amongst other states because of its existing favourable framework already laid down through it’ government policies on Agriculture. The project execution will take off immediately.
