Aro TC Chair visits, condoles with Isu community over violent clashes, conveys Gov Ikpeazu’s promise of solution

The Transition Committee Chairman of Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, Mazi Emmanuel Kanu, has visited the troubled people of Isu community, taking along a message of hope from the governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

The TC Chair was accompanied on the visit by some security personnel, for an on-the-spot assessment of the crisis that beset the community recently.

The community, on Monday, came under violent attacks by their neighbours from Utuma community in Cross River State, resulting in the loss of life and injury to several others from Isu.

Following the assault, security personnel were mobilized to the community, and normalcy was restored. 

Kanu confirmed this, saying: “We were able to mobilize security to the affected areas, and they were able to repel the attacks, and brought the situation under control, though the security personnel are still there to maintain law and order…”

During the Wednesday visit, Kanu met with some of the community leaders, and told them that Governor Ikpeazu is deeply worried about the incident. He also conveyed the assurances of the governor to find a lasting solution to the recurrent communal clashes in the area. 

Isu community is in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, which shares a boundary with Cross River State. The area is believed to have lime stone deposits in commercial quantity.
