In Abia state one name is synonymous with every home since May 29th 2023. That name has brought happiness to many homes. Many of us have wondered what is in that name. Parents now give their children that name for all you care. To them, the name is their Savior and a stone of help. That name is a caregiver, comforter, the God they see and feel daily. Every home is in love with that name because of his kindness and determination to save lives. Many would love to be called that name but no. They already have their names. That name is DR. ALEX CHIOMA OTTI, the amiable governor of Abia state. What truly is in the name of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR? A simple but very mighty name. This writer cannot truly explain what is in this great name. Alex is an English part of the name while Chioma means good God. Otti is what we can’t explain despite my elaborate research. But there is meaning in every name. But that name is the most mentioned, most effective, most popular, most respected and most prayed for in Abia state.
That name is in every home, every motor park, on the lips of every car or keke passenger, every office, every workplace, every state of the federation. He has stormed every state governor with a startling performance since assuming office on 29th May 2023. He is good. He is working so that Abia may change and get better. He is paying a backlog of salaries and pensions. He is looking at modalities to tackle the payment of the abandoned gratuities and kill the selective methods of paying family members, friends and stakeholders.
He is working tirelessly to restore the lost glory of Abia people. Dr. Alex Otti is angry that Abia is in ruins and taking the back seat in the committee of developing states in the country. He is poised to change the scenario. Help is now here at last not on the way. He has transformed so many roads in Aba, Umuahia and indeed in all the local government areas links roads are rehabilitated. He is working on lighting up the entire Abia, Aba and environs are already enjoying light steadily. Schools are rehabilitated; teachers are no longer farmers or traders. They have returned to their classrooms because they are now being cared for. Local government councils are wearing new looks because the Mayors are toeing the footsteps of their master Dr. Alex Chioma Otti. Fear has also been driven away because Dr. Alex Otti is concerned about the lives and property of the citizens of Abia state. Security is a priority in his administration. Market women and transporters have no cause to complain because no touts or agents are commissioned to extort money from them by force. Nobody knows that dirt in Abia can be cleared. Abia is now clean and smells good. And so that Biblical injunction that says “When the righteous is on the throne the people rejoice” is the gospel of Alex Otti in Abia today squarely demonstrated.
Today Abians know their money is here. Abians now know that allocations come into Abia on a monthly basis. Abians now know that roads can be constructed, rehabilitated and that even offices can be repainted, refurbished and furnished. That people can go to a standard hospital, medical centre, get quality treatment and can as well sleep and close two eyes. Today, there is joy everywhere in Abia. Happiness has suppressed the hunger and tension orchestrated by the present economic situation in the country. Abia is a safe haven for all. Praise God” Yet our amiable governor has done only ten months in office. Just ten months and Abia is totally overhauled. Just watch what happens in the next three years.
So we have money in Abia state, one keke man lamented. But wait a minute? Where is Dr. Alex Otti getting this money which he is using to perform these wonders? This question is necessary because this is not the style of his predecessors, I mean passed governors. Alex Otti, you dey do yahoo-yahoo to please Abia people? Maybe to prepare them for the 2027 elections when you campaign for your second coming? Your predecessors get allocations and share in their usual formulas. Share among themselves, god-fathers, cronies and give the balance to the media team put on hold to defend them and attack their opponents and Government in power even when there is nothing to talk about. One of the video clips I ran into the other day was funny but meaningful and akin to what we see every day in Abia concerning the exploits of Dr. Alex Otti.
A lady comedian cracked this joke “Alex Otti what is this?” I just saw a video clip saying you are going to commission what? Another comedian responded rather hypothetically Dem don dey beef Dr. Alex Otti. Politicians don dey beef governor Alex Otti of Abia state. Nothing pains politicians, like governor wey dey work. Is this what we planned? You no dey come meeting? We tell you to work? So we wey no dey work, wey dey loot, we no get sense? All of them go team up against Alex Otti. Very soon, dem go throw wey Dr. Alex Otti not to come near dem. Dem go heap allegations on top the head of Dr. Alex Otti. They hate it when you are doing what the masses want. When other governors dey cry say money no dey, Dr. Alex Otti dey flag off seaports, bridges and commissioning roads. This governor no dey attend meeting? He doesn’t believe in us. He is on his own. Dr. Alex Otti, where you dey get money to do all these things? Abi, you dey do yahoo- yahoo?
As things stand now other states go dey borrow, Dr. Alex Otti to work for them because these good things no go dey happen only for Abia state. Governor Alex Otti go dey work three three months in other states, after all na the same country we dey. Dr. Alex Otti never reach six months in office, road don complete. Dr. Alex Otti, make I ask you again, where you dey get money to work for Abia people?. That is the poem of that great comedian and his opponents are disturbed. That gentleman thrilled me. So what is in a name? What is in the name of governor Alex Otti that people are jealous about? The opposition parties are envious and jealous of Dr. Alex Otti. His performance and determination to turn Abia around for good is unprecedented. Many who cannot continue to be jealous are tearing their party membership cards to see if Dr. Alex Otti will accommodate them.
Indeed, the performance of Dr. Alex Otti is hurting some people. Dr. Alex Otti is their nemesis. They have the right to lament especially when they are struggling in their unimaginable. I saw it coming that Dr. Alex Otti has the capacity, competence, credibility, exposure, big heart and simplicity to work for Abia people and indeed do much better than all past governors of Abia state put together.
Their doors of opportunities to finish what is remaining of Abia state are locked and locked forever, what a pity
Dr. Alex Otti said he is in a hurry to develop Abia state and he has started well. His four years tenure as Abia state governor will no doubt make Abia state the Dubai of Africa.
We can now celebrate the parents of Dr. Alex Otti for giving him the name. They gave him the name for the sake of Abia state. For all we have seen Otti means achievements, competence, capacity, resilience, workaholic, exposure, resourcefulness and a great leader. That is what is in the name Dr. Alex Otti, see what I mean?
