Atani Primary School vandalized again, 2 suspects nabbed

For the umpteenth time recently, the Atani (Arochukwu) Primary School was again vandalised . The school has become the target of vandals who take liberty to break into and cart away books and desks meant for the pupils and teachers. The latest of these attacks took place in July 2023, butluck ran out on two of the vandals as operatives of the Arochukwu Neigbourhood Watch, in collaboration with Police operatives apprehended them.

The two suspects – Onyi Ajaero Akwari and Osondu Okereke – both of Asaga Village, Arochukwu, were recently arraigned at Arochukwu Magistrate Court. When the case was called, they pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

The matter was thereafter adjourned to August 8, 2023 for commencement of trial while the magistrate ordered their remand at the Arochukwu Correctional Centre. At the resumed hearing on August 8, 2023, the suspects were docked and cross examined after which the case was adjourned to August 22 for further hearing. The magistrate also ordered that the recovered stolen properties of the school in the custody of the Police be released to the school authorities.
