Lagos – the Center of Excellence welcomed delegates from different parts of the country who converged on the city for the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting of the umbrella union of Arocukwu people, Nzuko Aro Worldwide. On the evening of Friday, June 16, 2023, delegates started arriving to the warm embrace of members of Nzuko Arochukwu Lagos branch under the leadership ofits President, Mazi Eugene Onoh.
Earlier, Mazi Onoh had set up a planning committee made up of men and women under the chairmanship of Barr Uche Okoro, who also doubles as the 1st Vice President of the branch. The Uche Okoro-held committee held series of meetings and eventually, planned what turned out to be a very successful CEC. The Chairman of Lagos branch of Aro-Okeigbo Social Club of Nigeria (AROSON), Mazi Chinedu Nwankwo and his family hosted delegates and other Umu Aro to an evening to remember at his Lagos home on June 16, 2023. Food,drinks and choice wine flowed freely until late into the night.
Not ready to be outdone by the lavish entertainment Mazi Nwankwo provided the previous day, a former President General and National Patron of Nzuko Aro, Mazi Sam Ohuaunwa (OFR) hosted delegates and other Umu Aro to asumptuous breakfast at his Maryland Lagos home on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Mazi Ohuabunwa enquired further if he could host the delegates to lunch if the CEC will observe a lunch break.
Done with the breakfast, the delegates and umu Aro domiciled in Lagos, mostly , converged at the Neniv Events and Conference center, Murtala Muhammed way, Mafoluku, Oshodi for the CEC meeting proper. The President General of Nzuko Aro, Sir Dozie Udensi presided over the meeting with assistance from the 1st Vice President General, Mazi Anicho Okoro and other members of his exco. The national patrons where represented by its chairman, Prof Okoro Ijoma and Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, while the branch patrons were also in full attendance. In its usual practice, ‘ Iburu Oji” elicited so much excitement because of the healthy rivalry between branches and individuals.
Mazi Eugene Onoh, President, Nzuko Aro, Lagos branch, welcomed the delegates to the center of excellence and prayed for a fruitful deliberation. Reports were taken from committees including Ikeji, electricity, security etc. The meeting deliberated on the crisis rocking the women’s wing with various speakers lending their voices for need to the issue. They called for unity among the women. After a lengthy deliberation on matter, a committee was set up to overlook the affairs of the wing. The committee is chaired by Mrs. Ogechi Bialose with Mrs. Angela Ihebinandu as member and Madam Gift Onwuchekwa as Secretary.
Mrs. Ogonnaya Onyechere (Nchege) and Dame Mercy Jones are to serve as advisers.The musical troupe of the Federated Arochukwu Youths Association (FAYA), entertained the crowd while members of Ekpe society held people spell bound with its display.
