The Ujari Progressive Union (UPU) election took place on December 29, 2024. The pivotal event signaled a significant milestone in the community’s progress, showcasing the union’s commitment to democracy and transparency.
The election’s success was the culmination of four months of intense campaigning, with Mazi Barrister Nwankwo Udonsi and other esteemed UPU Patrons ensuring a free and fair process.
On the day of the election, 12 branches of the UPU came together, and their delegates cast their votes, resulting in the election of new officers, into the five positions being uncontested.
At the end of the exercise, the following persons were saddled with the mantle of leadership of Ujari for the next three years. They are: Mazi Anicho Nwafor Oti, President General; Evang (Dr) Jane Ekubo, First Vice President General, and Pastor Ukwu Anyalewechi, 2nd Vice President General.
Others included Mazi Chinatu Okoro, Secretary General; Mazi Vincent Okoro Ekubo, Assistant Secretary General; Mazi Okoronkwo Kanu Uvere, Financial Secretary General; and Mrs Gift Chinyere Stephen, Assistant Financial Secretary General.
Mrs Christy Nnennaya Okereke was elected Treasurer General; Mazi Danirel Nkem George, Publicity Secretary General; Mazi Uchenna Ohabiro, Social Welfare Secretary General; and Mazi Uchechukwu Okoroji, Provost General
