Amasu village gets gift of new church building

1

Amasu village recently received the gift of a brand new church built and donated by one of its daughters resident in the United States of America.

Sources told Aro News that the lady’s grandmother, Mgbafor Chukwu Okoro, was amongst the early female Christians who worshipped at the old prayer house as it was known then.

She ensured that her children and grandchildren worshipped at the prayer centre, which later metamorphosed to the Presbyterian Church.

The church was in disrepair and the clergy reached out to its members at home and abroad, for assistance. Their appeal reached Madam Mercy Okoro, daughter of Madam Mgbafor Chukwu Okoro. Madam Mercy, aged 87-years, in turn, appealed to her children to assist the house of God.  Her appeal was immediately heeded by her second daughter and main sponsor of the project, who does not want her name in print.

She immediately swung into action, pulled down the old building and erected the new church. Our source equally revealed that she stopped work on her family house in order to complete the church building, saying that she cannot be building her family home when the House of God is in shamble.
