Buhari honours Mazi Chinedum Okereke, 36 others with NPOM award

An illustrious son of Arochukwu, Mazi Chinedum Anthony Okereke, recently received from President Muhammed Buhari, the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) Award alongside 37 other eminent Nigerians and 11 companies.

Mazi Chinedum Okereke was nominated alongside Allen Onyema (Air Peace), Mike Adenuga (Globacom), Abdul Samad Rabiu (BUA Group) and Jim Ovia (Zenith Bank) under the employers of Labour category. 

Okereke’s award was in recognition of his contributions in creating employment throughout the various organisations where he has played key turnaround roles, the latest being at La Casera company, where he is the Managing Director. 

Mazi Okereke had been Managing Director of Suntory Beverages and Foods Ltd. Also at one time or the other, he was the Regional Supply Chain Head/Vice President (Africa and Middle East) Glaxo Smithkline and also had stints at Coca Cola Nig Ltd and Guiness Nig Plc.

He was educated at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; University of Benin; Pan Africa University (LBS); Stellenbosch Business School, Cape Town and several others.

A native of Ibom village, Arochukwu, Mazi Okereke is the President of the association of Food, Beverages and Tobacco Employers (AFBTE).

He is married to Ngozi and blessed with children.
