The Black Achievers in Industry (BAI) a global platform that showcases and recognises black men and women achievers in various industries yearly has endorsed the recommendation of Ejituru Okorafor by Deloitte as an outstanding woman professional in 2024. Ejituru, by this recognition, joins other eminent black professionals across various industries who will be serving as role models and mentors for the younger generations.

Deloitte and other corporate partners usually come together to celebrate success and invest in the future of young leaders to prepare them to mentor up-coming professionals. The BAI initiative is more than a programme, it’s a journey of empowerment as annually hundreds of community and business leaders meet to honour the achievements of black professionals. Since 1971, this annual event has paid tribute to the corporate leadership and community service of black achievers in industry and continues to serve as a vehicle for corporations, and local organizations to partner and provide mentoring programs, scholarships, and other opportunities to the younger generations.

These collective efforts has successfully served as a leadership pipeline which has benefited thousands of youths and encouraged them to focus on careers and professions that have brought about community wellbeing, growth and development. Bai is a vital program that encompasses youth mentoring programs, college scholarships, black college tours, corporate internships and year-long community outreach and has effectively motivated and inspired the next generation of leaders.

Ejituru’s remarkable achievement and role model in education is not unexpected being the daughter of the distinguished professor, Mazi Chris Aniche Okorafor who was a foremost academician and intellectual of repute. Indeed, it’s interesting that the seeds Professor Chris Okorafor sowed in the field of education and profession are already sprouting and being recognized in the international arena just a year after his demise. The world, Africa and Nigeria expect more from Ejituru as our youths are in dire need of similar platforms and mentor programs that would connects motivated teens with acknowledged successful professional adults to realize the full potential of young people through a variety of academic and social resources and experiences. We expect that she would enable the creation of such opportunities to link mentees and mentors based on mentee’s career goal and mentor’s area of expertise, as well as their common hobbies and personal interests. Expectations are quite high that more laurels shall follow the BAI 2024 recognition as an outstanding professional.
