Isimkpu commissions hall, holds awards ceremony

Bearing lastminute disappointments, arrangements have been concluded towards the commissioning of the Isimkpu Hall completed by a group of philanthropists from the village under the aegis of Isimkpu Think tank Group. The building of the hall began in 1987. 

The ceremony is slated to hold on Tuesday, 27 December, 2022 which is traditional set aside by the villagers as the Isimkpu Day while there will also be awards ceremony to be given by the Isimkpu Progressive Union to selected individuals within and outside the village during the ceremony.

In a release made available to the Press by the first vice president-general of Isimkpu Progressive Union, Dr Ogbonnaya Akoma, who is also the financial secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Abia State chapter, indicates that the three royal fathers of Arochukwu, Maazi Augustine Kanu Okoro, Onye Arianzu Arochukwu, Dr Kanu Nwa Kanu, Eze Ibom Isii, and Maazi Okoroafor Uro, Eze Ezeagwu na Okwara Agwu, shall be the Royal Fathers of the Day who will be joined by Eze O C Iromantu, Enyi 1 of Okporoenyi and Onye Arianzu Isimkpu, Mazi Okezie Nwankwo.

The release further indicated that the President-General of Nzuko Arochukwu, Sir Nnadozie Udensi, shall be the chairman on the occasion while Maazi Mike Akpara, the director of finance of the Alex Otti Campaign Council and former South-East zonal manager of the Diamond Bank, shall be the Special Guest of Honour.

Meanwhile, a cross-section of Isimkpu villagers has continued to poor encomiums on the Isimkpu Think-tank Group members for coming together to raise money to complete the hall. 

They commended Maazi Chijioke Okereke, retired Wing-Commander Ndubuisi Okoronkwo, Maazi John Okike Emeruwa, retired Commodore Nkemakolam S Ukpabi, Maazi Agodi Williams, Professor Chioli Pascal Chijioke, Dr Okechukwu Sam, Maazi Kanu Okoro and a few others elected to meet, contributed their hard-earned money to complete the village hall for the benefit of all Isimkpu villagers and all others.
