Kalu attracts 6.1 Km road at Itumbuzor/Ndi Iwo

Construction work is progressing on the 6 kilometer Itumbuzor/ Ndi Iwo road in Bende LGA of Abia State. Drainage work is ongoing, as the contractor handling the project is presently addressing the issue of erosion, which washes away parts of the road.

Aro News investigation revealed that the project was attracted by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the lawmaker representing Abia North and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatization.

During the campaigns, the senator had promised to reconstruct the road listing several economic benefits that would be derived by the communities and its environs. He stated that the road when completed, will be helpful to the people of Arochukwu as it will make travel to Umuahia and other places easier. Sen Kalu also pointed out that there will be increased economic activities for the communities as transportation of goods and services will be faster, easier and cheaper. It will also create jobs for youths in the communities who will be engaged by the contractors for various construction works.

The lawmaker pointed out that as agrarian communities, post harvest losses usually associated with poor network of roads will be eliminated. He equally expressed hope that when the road is completed, value of property in the area will improve and investments will be attracted to the area. Our correspondents visit to the road revealed that work is progressing steadily even at night and in the rains.
