The lawmaker representing Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Mike Ukoha, has promised to liaise with Nzuko Aro to harness the abundant skills of Arochukwu youths.

Ukoha announced this in Abuja on July 16, during the Central Executive Working Committee (CEWC) meeting of Nzuko Arochukwu Worldwide.

The idea, he said, is to identify the various areas that Arochukwu youths are inclined towards, with a view to giving them the required head start.

He acknowledged that Arochukwu youths possess enormous potentials, which he said ought to be harnessed and tapped not only for their personal development, but for the overall good of the community.

The lawmaker was responding to the welcome address by the President of Nzuko Aro, Abuja branch, Mazi Sam Ogundu, who had appealed to Nzuko Aro to fashion out programmes to empower Arochukwu youths in the area of skills acquisition.

Ogundu had said: “Another area this administration should avert its mind to is the area of youth employment and empowerment. Most of our youths are unemployed, which explains the reason for several criminal activities in our ancient kingdom.

“It is a common saying that an idle hand/mind is the devil’s workshop. I therefore appeal to the CEWC to create a database of the unemployed youths in Arochukwu, which will serve as a guide towards assisting Umu Aro to secure employment. The unemployable ones may be empowered  through acquisition of relevant skills.

“The President-General may also wish to direct his attention to towards stopping the sale and consumption of hard drugs, which is prevalent in Arochukwu. These drugs, you will agree with me, have negative effect on our youths and engender misbehaviour, crime and criminality among our youths, to the disadvantage of our great kingdom.”
