Madam Lucy Onwumere was born as Uzumma Okoronkwo Ogiji in 1943 to the late Maazi Okoronkwo Ogiji (who migrated from Asaga Arochukwu in present day Abia state) to Ngbo, Ohaukwu L.G.A in the present day of Ebonyi state.
Mama did not have the opportunity to attain western education as training the girl child was not fashionable then.
She met and married Maazi Onwumere David Nwaenyi Avunnanya, a jurist and businessman and was the second wife. She was also a petty trader during her life time.
Lucy had fifteen children in all but lost eleven and only four survived, one girl and three boys.
