Work has commenced on the Arochukwu Townshp Stadium situated at Baraki near the council headquarters.
According to the Mayor of the LGA, Chief Joe Eze Aru, a new mini stadium for complete sporting activities is in the pipeline.
He stated further that his administration plans to lay tartan tracks for athletics, construct a lawn tennis court, provide table tennis facilities as well as volleyball and other sporting activities.
Chief Eze Aru assured that by December 2024, complete regrassing of the football pitch will be achieved.
He informed Aro News that it is part of his administration’s vision to have a stadium in the LGA.

“We are also erecting a fence around the stadium with a big gate to secure the facility.
“When completed, it will also serve other activities as it will host major events in the LGA since no such facility currently exists in the LGA.
“Those who will need to use the facility for one event or the other will need to apply to the LGA for approval.
“It will serve as a revenue generating facility for the council as political, religious and social activities will be staged there when completed.
“Arochukwu youths will be encouraged to take up sporting activities to minimize social vices and groom young talented athletes.
“Youths can assess the stadium free of charge when completed, to participate in one sports or the other,” Chief Eze Aru added.
