A renowned historian, Prof Okoro Ijoma, was recently bestowed with a Life Time Award by the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN). 

The event took place during the 70th anniversary and the 6th Congress of the Association of African Historians. 

Prof Okoro Ijoma, an emeritus professor of history at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, is also a community development oriented man. 

He has been in the service of Arochukwu for several years. A native of Amannagwu village, he was educated at Aggrey Primary School, St John’s College, Diobu, Port Harcourt; the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the University of Birmingham. 

He had a most distinguished career lecturing at the ivory towers, most of which he did at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). 

He held many leadership positions at UNN as well as being a fellow of many professional bodies. 

He is the chairman of the Body of Patrons of Nzuko Aro, member Okpankpo Aro. 

Ugwu Aro is married and blessed with children and grandchildren.
