The J&T Foundation, a non-profit organization established to provide care for the less privileged persons, has rescued two Arochukwu girls (names withheld) who were lured to Ghana by a ring of vicious human traffickers. They are among those lured away to Ghana, ostensibly for work, which later turned out a brokerage prostitution odyssey. Having been rescued, the girls were last month presented to the Eze Aro-in-Council at the Eze Aro palace. Since its inception, J & F Foundation has reportedly provided humanitarian services, including payment of monthly upkeep stipends to widows, the elderly and the physically challenged persons.

Through interactions with beneficiaries of its gesture, according to the Foundation,  revelations were made of some young girls who were lured away from home, to Ghana, apparently for prostitution anchored on the principles of brokerage. Thus, the Foundation opened a channel of communication with Mazi Abraham  Torti, the President-General of Agbagwu Village, who is resident in Ghana, with a  view to tracking the whereabouts of the trafficked girls.

“At great cost, efforts and determination, we were able to rescue two of the victims, and have brought them back to Aro. Several other girls, some already  declared missing by their parents, are believed to be held hostage by these traffickers and their collaborators who are all Umu Aro,” according to Dr NCE Njaka, Legal Adviser to the Foundation, in his letter of November 18, 2022, to the Eze Aro in Council, while seeking audience to present the rescued duo to the council. He thus conveyed the gratitude of the Foundation’s president, Dr. Jacob Nwosu,  and his vice, Dr (Mrs.) Theodora Nwosu, to the Eze Aro traditional stool, for reposing confidence in the organization in its quest to get justice for the trafficked girls.
