PH IPU elects Emeka Nwaba Okoronkwo chairman, re-elects Ogbonnaya Akoma secretary

The Port Harcourt branch of the Isimkpu Progressive Union, IPU, Arochukwu, on Sunday, 29th August, 2021 during her monthly meeting, elected a new chairman to pilot the affairs of the union in the next three years. He is Mr Emeka Nwaba Okoronkwo, 48, who has been living in the Garden City for thirty years now. In the keenly contested election that was conducted through secret balloting, he emerged the winner. 

Mr Emeka Nwaba Okoronkwo, a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, studied mechanical engineering works with the Schlumberger Company.  He is also a consultant with NES Global Talent Company in the Middle East (UAE).

The new PH IPU chairman, promised to contribute his quota to the overall progress and development of the union in Port Harcourt during his tenure in his acceptance speech. He is married and blessed with two children.

During the same election, a veteran writer, author, editorial consultant and a former Arochukwu Bureau Correspondent of Aro News, Ogbonnaya Akoma, was unanimously re-elected the branch secretary of the union. 

Mr Akoma, a director-retiree, also serves his village, Isimkpu, as the palace secretary, just as he serves Abia State chapter of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo as the financial secretary after serving the organisation as publicity secretary in the past; he is also the immediate-past senior special assistant, SSA, to Gov Okezie Ikpeazu on grassroots politics.
